First Baptist Church of Fort Sumner, New Mexico!

Alex’s House is happy to announce a new partnership with First Baptist Church of Fort Sumner, New Mexico!

While in Haiti with BGR, Sam & Delores York introduced Pastor Nathan Lawrence and his group to Bill during a worship service at Alex’s House. They were able to also spend a day helping with the kids and ended up spending time talking to Bill about the vision of Alex’s House. James 1:27 – God’s charge to take care of orphans and widows – came to mind and Alex’s House was a way for First Baptist to build a relationship and have a long term partnership.

Nathan noticed such a huge contrast between poorly run orphanages in Haiti and Alex’s House Orphanage; the difference was remarkable to him, “In Alex’s House it felt good – it felt like God’s Kingdom was being built there in the midst of suffering and darkness. The kids were being well taken care of and were exposed to the gospel.” It is the hope of First Baptist that partnering with Alex’s House will give them an opportunity to focus on issues outside of their own – to help build God’s Kingdom. The partnership is a tangible way for them to live out James 1:27 in a real and personal way.

First Baptist is not a large church – they average about 100 at a service – but they are excited to take this first step toward international missions. They will get to take a giant leap soon, as a group from First Baptist is heading to Haiti February 9-16 to do construction work at our Kalico site.

Thank you, First Baptist and Pastor Nathan Lawrence for helping us show God’s love to the children of Haiti. We cannot wait to see what God has in store!
